Concept and Objective

Preamble

United Nations has declarations, conventions, and protocols with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD), etc. In practice, poor people are left behind to rip the benefits from all these declarations, conventions, and protocols. Taking this into consideration VUCP Trust will take various initiatives for a specific declaration and exercise of the Convention for the poor people’s rights by the United Nations.

Objectives of the Trust

The Trust will undertake different initiatives for the proclamation, and implementation/realization of the UN convention dedicated to the poor to protect their Human, Social, Cultural, & Economic Rights irrespective of physical ability, caste, creed, religion, sex, and location.


The specific objectives of the Trust are as follows:

  • To conduct policy advocacy for a separate UN commission for research and analyzing the root causes of pauperization/ reproduction of poverty.
  • To assist separate UN commission understands the root causes of poverty, pauperization, displacement, and all forms of discrimination.
  • To support the commission to formulate a specific declaration for the poor to address the causes of poverty & pauperization, environmental hazards, displacement, lack of access to assets & well-being, loss of dignity, and all forms of discrimination.
  • To engage poor people in the community to come up with their own agenda in contributing to the deceleration of the UN Convention for the poor.
  • To ensure the ratification of the convention, necessary reformations, and progress of realization through follow-up, advocacy, monitoring, research, publications, etc.
