Voice for UN Convention on the Poor (VUCP) works to advocate a global campaign for claiming a UN Convention on the Poor.
This is a nongovernment and nonprofit organization?
No, VUCP is not a part of any UN body.
VUCP works with the help of any charitable fund but not a charitable organization.
VUCP works for global poverty but not work globally at this moment.
In the year 2023.
It has nine members of the trustee body.
United Nations and governments of the member states.
At national regional and international levels the organizations those are working to end poverty, academicians, and human rights activists.
People struggling against poverty regardless of sex, physical condition, race, geographical identity, income, skills, etc.
There is no declaration of UN Convention on the poor.
“Global poverty is one of the most pressing problems that the world faces today”. Present Human Rights declarations were not able to address the rights of poor people properly. As the largest number of special vulnerable groups, Poor people need protection against inequalities and oppression under a global legal framework. So that this ratified UN convention by the governments of the member states and also for the international community will be legal protection for the implementation of the rights of the poor and will end global poverty.
This is the very latest concept for addressing poverty. Because of its necessity, soon it will draw the attention of the global community.
SDG is a global goal targeted by the UN and accepted by the governments of the member states which is not completely obligatory but rather a commitment. SDG Goal 1 does not target to end all forms of poverty but is a partial target of the whole. On the other hand, UN Convention on the poor will be a legally obligatory document for the member states and as well as the international community to follow.
This is a huge goal to materialize. It is at its starting point only. It needs strong attention from the international community as well as the involvement of people with a strong voice around the world. The sooner it will submit to the UN by its member state, it will achieve. This is an optimistic long run.
VUCP is in the very initial stage of its working journey, therefore our present challenge is to draw the attention of the respective individuals and organizations to this concept and carry it forward.
VUCP will work as a citizen’s organization to raise voices on behalf of poor people around the world. VUCP will involve people to claim the UN convention, conduct consultations on the claimed convention, and create a global campaign on this issue, conduct necessary research to find the best ways of rights-based legal obligations ending poverty.
